After his recent performances at Sasquatch Festival, Boston Calling and the FORM Arcosanti festival, and after announcing his signing to Jagjaguwar and his tour, Moses Sumney announces the release of his debut album. Since his live debut in 2014, Moses Sumney has generated an impressive amount of word of mouth thanks to his recordings and his ultra-dynamic live performances. It is a natural, patient and rare rise in a music industry where everything moves at full speed. With his soft, haunting voice, Sumney makes the music of the future and transfigures classic patterns by reinterpreting jazz gems. His voice tells the story of a personal journey through universal loneliness against a mystical sonic backdrop. After the release of his first cassette, Mid-City Island, and his 2015 vinyl Seeds/Pleas, Sumney has performed around the world alongside heavyweights like David Byrne, Karen O, Sufjan Stevens, Solange and James Blake among others. With his 2016 EP Lamentations, the Ghanaian and Californian artist expanded the spectrum of his “chamber” music, incorporating songs with more elaborate productions and evocative lyrics. Today, after three years of stops at renowned festivals around the globe and select collaborations, Sumney offers us his debut album, Aromanticism, an intimate recording where the lack of love is seen as a dreamlike landscape. This effort, which questions the social constructions around romance, will be released via Jagjaguwar on September 22. It includes, among others, the track 'Doomed' whose video is directed by Allie Avital, and new versions of 'Lonely World' and 'Plastic'.
