Homme-machine for Etienne Daho, record director (Calypso Valois), the jack-of-all-trades Yan Wagner returns with a new album "Couleur chaos". After two albums sung in English, including Forty Eight Hours (2012) produced by Arnaud Rebotini and where he duetted with Etienne Daho (him again), the Franco-American regularly questioned whether to sing in French, time eventually convinced him. This lover of keyboards and the eighties recalls here his first embraces with George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, and Funkadelic. He colors some tracks with black and white funk flashes, adjusts the random temperature of the synths, and injects G-funk elements here and there. There are finally songs about misunderstanding (Fais comme si) and love amnesia (Souvenir détail), a nod to John Fante (Demande à la poussière), latent groove (Take it all), a sexual breakthrough, and Caribbean-tinged new wave (Parfum), and even an end credits theme with sparkling indolence (Dernière fête). "Couleur chaos" then, to forget the disorder outside.
