French Pop

French pop has been with us for decades, with its memorable choruses and lyrics that resonate in our language. From France Gall to Étienne Daho, from Mylène Farmer to Angèle, it reflects different eras while remaining anchored in a universal sensibility.

Each generation brings its own voices and sounds, blending romanticism, modernity, and boldness.

This music fills our living rooms with familiar emotion, reminding us how much French pop knows how to touch the heart as much as the ear.

French-language pop on vinyl: what you'll find here

This page gathers French pop vinyl: pop songs, chanson-style variety, pop rock and current artists singing in French, from France, Belgium, Switzerland and Quebec. The catalog runs from Sylvie Vartan and Johnny Hallyday, a national rock and roll icon often called the French Elvis, to Francis Cabrel, Julien Clerc, Patricia Kaas and Patrick Bruel, and from Céline Dion, Garou and Natasha St-Pier to Christophe Maé and BB Brunes. Each record page lists offers from several partner stores.

Buying French pop records: reissues, limited editions and used copies

Format history matters here. 1960s and 1970s records exist as period pressings, often on Barclay, Philips or Vogue, and are easy to find used. Many 1990s and 2000s albums, however, came out mainly on CD: their first vinyl edition may be recent, or the original LP may be rare and expensive. Large catalog reissue campaigns now bring many of these albums back as new pressings, which is good news for listeners abroad.

Some artists, such as Mylène Farmer, are heavily collected: limited editions, picture discs and color vinyl often sell out fast, and some later resell for more. If an edition interests you, compare offers as soon as it is listed. For listening only, the standard black edition is usually the cheapest option.
