Tracey Thorn, half of the cult English electro duo Everything But The Girl, presents today for the first time her solo work through an exceptional double compilation. The influence of Tracey Thorn's songwriting and voice on the English indie scene (whether it be pop, folk, or electro) for over twenty years has never waned, and it was time to show a whole different side of this unique artist's career, less mapped out. As Tracey Thorn herself says, "there's a reason why this record is not called 'The Best Of Tracey Thorn', because I wanted to present a whole other aspect of my work, when I was entirely in charge artistically for my own songs or when I collaborated with other producers and bands as a singer." The result over these 34 varied tracks is a very beautiful snapshot of her career, from her folk beginnings in 1982 with the very beautiful "A Distant Shore" to her notable collaborations in more electronic fields, such as the acclaimed "Protection" with Massive Attack, but also rock and pop, with legendary artists like Robert Wyatt and The Style Council.
