Minx

Description

Minx is the first solo album by English singer Toyah Willcox, released in 1985 on Portrait Records. It spawned the moderate success of the track "Don't Fall in Love (I Said)". Although still credited under the name "Toyah" (the name of the band she led until 1984), the album technically marks the beginning of Willcox's solo career and her first album for a major record label, Portrait Records (a subsidiary of the CBS group), after leaving the independent label Safari, which had produced all of her music up to that point. Minx would be Toyah's only album on Portrait. This album marks a departure from her previous works, which were more thematic albums written almost entirely by Willcox and long-time members of her band, such as Joel Bogen and Phil Spalding. In an effort to create a more "polished" pop album and, supposedly, to break into the American market, a great deal of artistic freedom was given to the producers, leading to the creation of four cover versions, a first, among the twelve tracks on the original album. The album was produced by Christopher Neil.
