Desire is the second solo studio album by English singer Toyah Willcox, released in 1987 on E.G. Records.Musically, Desire leans closer to Willcox's earlier band albums than to its more commercial predecessor, Minx. Most of the songs are again co-written by Willcox, and although the original version of the album does not credit any musicians, it features a stable lineup, unlike the large number of session musicians involved in Minx. Robert Fripp and Ronnie Wood contribute to the album but are uncredited. The album includes two covers: "Echo Beach," originally recorded by Martha and the Muffins, and "Love's Unkind," originally performed by Donna Summer. Willcox stated she was forced to record "Love's Unkind" by her record label, despite her strong opposition. E.G. Records threatened to cancel the album's release if she refused. Cover photos were taken by Carrie Branovan.The first single, "Echo Beach," achieved modest success in the United Kingdom. The second and final single, "Moonlight Dancing," is a song that evokes the idea that "the moon is a link that unites us all," and reuses lyrics from a new version of "Dawn Chorus." This single failed to chart. The album itself also did not achieve commercial success and did not enter the album sales charts in the United Kingdom. Desire was reissued in digital format in 2015.
