Sunset Rubdown releases their fourth studio album, the first in fifteen years! - Always Happy To Explode. Twenty years ago, Spencer Krug began using the name Sunset Rubdown for his solo recordings, experiments too weak and strange for his then-burgeoning band Wolf Parade, and then in 2005, Sunset Rubdown became a full-fledged band. The group recorded their critically acclaimed third album, Dragon Slayer, in 2008, and then played their last concert in Tokyo in 2009, with the implicit certainty that it was the end. They quietly disbanded, the certainty that they would never reunite growing over the years. Fourteen years later, they came together for a tour and decided to record a new album together. The album consists of nine songs selected from the demos that Spencer Krug posted on his Patreon page over the past few years, with the songs in many cases being more stripped down than their previous incarnations, but no less lush. With Always Happy to Explode, Sunset Rubdown has created something that captures their gratitude and the energy of their joyful (and sometimes difficult) reunion.
