Electro Throwdown – Sci-Fi Inter-Planetary Electro Attack on Planet Earth 1982-89

Description

Soul Jazz presents a compilation of pioneering, rare, or cult tracks from American electro music!Soul Jazz Records' new collection, "Electro Throwdown - Sci-Fi Inter-Planetary Electro Attack on Planet Earth 1982-89," takes you to the far reaches of electro with high-octane sci-fi grooves. This album primarily brings together rare electro tracks from 80s independent labels, created at a time when a vocoder and a Roland TR-808 were enough to get the party started. Aside from a few notable exceptions (Michael Jonzun's Jonzun Crew and The Packman), the album features tracks dug up from pioneering artists like Pretty Tony, Planet Detroit (James McCauley, aka Maggotron), and Rich Cason, who shaped the sound of electro in the USA, from Miami to New York to Los Angeles. The album is released as a double vinyl, gatefold sleeve, and on CD, both with liner notes by Derek Walmsley (The Wire).
