After the worldwide success of their first album, 'Le chant des Vikings' (The Song of the Vikings), SKÁLD unveils its second album, 'Vikings Memories.' The band once again tells a story, that of the northern peoples and their relationship with nature and the ocean. Performed in Old Norse, the ancient language of the northern peoples, the 11 tracks revive forgotten tales of lost continents now submerged by melting ice – like Doggerland, which once connected Great Britain to Scandinavia.
They evoke the foundational myths of the deluge and foretold apocalypses, but also journey in the company of adventurers and sailors who have, throughout time, navigated the planet's most dangerous waters. This shared memory is embodied by the extraordinarily warm and powerful voices of Justine Galmiche, whose inimitable timbre blends wonderfully with the guttural and vibrant voice of her companion Pierrick Valence. All of this is enhanced by the subtle production of Christophe Voisin-Boisvinet, thanks to an instrumentation that is both ambitious and delicate, where a panoply of percussions and resonant skins intertwine with ancient Scandinavian string instruments (nyckelharpa, skáldharpa…).
