Silly Boy Blue presents her pop universe tinged with black romanticism. The song was recorded in May 68 by a young unknown singer: David Bowie. It talks about a boy who breaks the rules, in an unreal lushness. The song is called Silly Boy Blue and its title, like its invitation to defiance, has not fallen on deaf ears. Ana Benabdelkarim was of course not born when Bowie rubbed shoulders, in excess, with his hero Scott Walker. But this taste for risk, this unlimited musical ambition, this freedom taken with conventions or genre, this joyful melancholy still resonate very strongly in the dreams of the young singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer already spotted within the Nantes group Pégase. In turn, she embodies today Bowie’s Silly Boy Blue, transforming this title into a name and her fantasies into augmented realities. Silly Boy Blue's first album houses twelve songs, which have chosen not to choose: some will only need the formidable guitar/voice, while others will require the splendor of arrangements and rhythms. Recorded first in Paris with Apollo Noir, then in Haute-Normandie at studio 33, with the addition of Sam Tiba from Club Cheval, the album also features three productions signed by Ana. What strikes in these songs is their meticulousness, their musicality. It is no coincidence that the album is called Breakup Songs: it is only about emotional roller coasters, from crushes to breakups. No wonder that melancholy is the special guest of so many songs by Silly Boy Blue.
