"Professional musician," a talented jack-of-all-trades, equally at ease with the guitar alongside his old accomplice Arthur H, as well as an instinctive tinkerer of all kinds of machines, designer of custom atmospheres (notably for Michel Portal)... but also an unclassifiable singer-songwriter cultivating his secret garden, his "sung" world, both lyrical, dark, tenderly melancholic, and willingly surreal (see his first song album, La vile, released on the Indigo label in 1997 and his new work, currently in progress)... Nicolas Repac burst onto the scene in 2004 where he was least expected. With "Swing Swing," a record as magnificent as it is unclassifiable released on the new label no format! "Swing Swing" is an electro ramble around jazz (its materials, virtues, spirit, and memory) playful, light, fluid in gesture, and packed with ideas, discoveries, and intuitions; both naive and instinctive (Repac is a knowledgeable amateur, a sort of Facteur Cheval in the already established world of electronic music) and extremely elaborate in its crushed samples, its hallucinatory rhythmic twists, its sensual and dreamy atmospheres. There is nothing solemn or heavy in this loving evocation, but a unique way of questioning, without seeming to touch it, this very particular way of "settling" in time, in an unstable balance, that we call swing - and humbly offering it a whole range of possibilities.
