Psalms

Description

'Psalms' is a collection of new arrangements of biblical psalms in Hebrew, composed and performed by Nathan Salsburg. An archivist for the Alan Lomax Archive and renowned American folk guitarist, Nathan Salsburg is based in Louisville, Kentucky. He has played on albums by The Weather Station and Shirley Collins, and since 2014, has toured and recorded for Joan Shelley. He also recently collaborated with Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and author Max Porter on the EP Three Feral Pieces. Following Third (2018) and Landwerk (2020), 'Psalms' was born from a desire for a kind of Jewish engagement that is both rigorous and creative. Though its origins are solitary, the album was recorded with numerous collaborators – James Elkington, Joan Shelley, Will Oldham, Spencer Tweedy – leading to a broad and lush conversation with the past.
