Originally released in 2007, *Inventions for the New Season* was Maserati's third album — and their first with new drummer Jerry Fuchs (!!!, Turing Machine, LCD Soundsystem, The Juan Maclean). Jerry’s influence was immediately felt, pushing tempos and helping the band shed much of their former identity — retaining only their reverb- and delay-drenched guitars. Dripping with sweat, the result was a delirious admixture of late-70s Pink Floyd-esque sounds, German psych rock, and mid-80s action film soundtracks that instantly solidified Maserati's reputation as a muscular instrumental force.
