TRIBUTE TO HUBERT LAWS (vinyl)

Description

FRENCH ELECTRO-JAZZ SCENE TRAILBLAZER.Ludivine Issambourg, a talented flutist recognized as a "trailblazer of the French electro-jazz scene," leads the Antiloops project, which blends jazz, funk, electro, and hip-hop, and the Outlaws project, a tribute to the great American flutist Hubert Laws.Hubert Laws, one of the greatest American flutists, has enjoyed an immense career spanning over 50 years. He is one of the rare classical artists who also masters jazz, pop, and rhythm & blues genres, effortlessly moving from one repertoire to another. He has released about twenty albums as a leader. His sideman career is just as impressive, having played with Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Milt Jackson, Freddie Hubbard, and Bob James, among others. It is worth noting that he is also the most sampled flutist in hip-hop. He is a role model for Ludivine: his mastery of the instrument is incredibly precise, and his musicality is unparalleled. To reappropriate this repertoire she has listened to since childhood, Ludivine naturally asked Eric Legnini to be the producer and artistic director. They focused on recordings released on the CTI label during the 70s. Their collaboration led them to work with the sound of that era, particularly by recording on a legendary Neve console from those years, while ensuring they brought modernity, especially in the sound and arrangements. In early 2020, Ludivine presented her Tribute to Hubert Laws with the release of her new album "Outlaws": a project with 70s colors and sounds recorded with the greatest musicians of the current jazz scene. Her passion for the flute, eclecticism, groove, funk, and the sound of those years encourages listeners to delve back into the world of one of the greatest masters of the style. To reappropriate this repertoire she has listened to since childhood, Ludivine naturally asked Eric Legnini to be the producer and artistic director.SPECIAL GUEST Christophe CHASSOL on the track "What do you think of this world now?", which, fun fact, has been the music on his answering machine for 20 years!
