Between hip-hop coasting and punky-noisy-pop rock cruising, '10', the aptly named tenth album by the cosmopolitan Peuple de l'Herbe, proves as prodigious as it is unsettling. After more than 20 years of sailing through both favorable and adverse winds, Le Peuple de l'Herbe returns with their 10th album 'Ten'. Without disavowing anything, the recent changes (additional instruments, lineup) for this new album have clearly altered the original course. It's a kind of return to roots, predating the very genesis of the band, resulting in something as clear as it is disorienting. It smells of urban experience, and we can't complain about it. The entire album is a delight to listen to, like the soundtrack to the film of our miserable (yet rich) schizophrenic existence, sometimes disillusioned, sometimes hyped up by the ambient chaos that has become so commonplace. It's simple: if 'Ten' were a debut album, we'd be hailing it as genius.
