Between hip-hop coasting and punky-noisy-pop rock voyages, '10', the aptly named tenth opus from the cosmopolitan Peuple de l'Herbe, proves to be as prodigious as it is disorienting. After more than 20 years of sailing and winds sometimes favorable, sometimes contrary, Le Peuple de l'Herbe returns with a 10th opus, 'Ten'. Without renouncing anything, for this new opus, the few changes felt in recent years (additional instruments, line-up) have clearly changed the destination from the original course. A sort of return to the roots, even before the very genesis of the group, for a result as clear as it can be disorienting. It has the good smell of urban experience, and we can hardly complain about that. The whole album is listened to with delight, like the soundtrack to the film of our miserable (but no less rich) existence as a schizophrenic, sometimes disillusioned, sometimes overexcited by the surrounding chaos that has become so commonplace. It’s quite simple: if 'Ten' were a debut album, we’d be shouting genius.
