KACY & CLAYTON first met Jeff Tweedy backstage at San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium in September 2016. The band was then invited to open for Wilco on the fourth night of their usual five-show run. As the duo waited to do their soundcheck, Jeff appeared from behind the curtain and introduced himself. In the ensuing discussion, Kacy Anderson, Clayton Linthicum, and Jeff Tweedy spoke of their mutual appreciation for Davy Graham. This was followed by an invitation to record at Wilco's studio, The Loft, where the band would go just a few weeks later. In January 2017, KACY & CLAYTON returned to The Loft with a rhythm section and new songs. In 8 days, the band recorded 9 tracks with Jeff Tweedy producing and The Loft's sound engineer, Tom Schick. These 9 tracks form what would become the duo's fourth album, The Siren's Song. While writing and recording The Siren's Song, KACY & CLAYTON found inspiration in the music of Sammi Smith, The Everly Brothers, Link Wray, country records with harpsichord, The Sir Douglas Quintet, Gene Clark, Jeannie C. Riley, and also in the music of traditional English folk singers like Peter Bellamy and The Watersons. The Siren's Song is a product of all these influences and an extraordinary progression in the band's sonic exploration.
