Julian Cope's second album from 1984 - Never repressed in its original format, this reissue faithfully reproduces the original version from Mercury Records UK with a poster, and is pressed on high-quality 180g vinyl. Fried is one of Julian Cope's boldest works. It led many to think that after a time on the brink, Julian Cope had finally tipped into artistic madness, amplified by the fact that he wore a tortoise shell and stared at a toy van on a landscaped dump in Warwickshire on the album cover. The opening track Reynard The Fox added to all this, a six-minute psychedelic garage rock tour de force, breaking down into a monologue by Cope where he solemnly recounts English folklore tales from his perspective, also referencing an onstage incident from 1983. Sunspots, the only single taken from the album, is one of his greatest recordings in a career spanning over 40 years. Fried ranks among the best works of the singular British eccentric.
