The first historic concert of Band of Gypsys offered exclusively in its entirety! On September 30, Experience Hendrix L.L.C. and the Legacy Recordings label will reissue the live album Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69, featuring the complete first performance of Band of Gypsys, a fleeting group and eternal influence of Jimi Hendrix. The band gave four historic concerts at the Fillmore East in New York: two on New Year's Eve and two on New Year's Day 1970. The first performance had never been released in its entirety until now. The vast majority of the songs played on this occasion have never even been released in any form. Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 therefore includes in its entirety the first of the four concerts given by the band at the Fillmore East. It constitutes a collection of both pure and exhilarating melodies, such as "Earth Blues," "Ezy Ryder," "Stepping Stone," "Burning Desire," and "Machine Gun," none of which had been released on CD before. Moreover, the vast majority of the band's compositions had never been played in front of an audience before this event. "We chose not to play songs that the fans already knew," explains Billy Cox. "We wanted to offer them something different. We approached this project with a creative and joyful perspective that ultimately helped us develop the repertoire of Band Of Gypsys." This live recording has been fully remastered by John McDermot and remixed by Eddie Kramer, the sound engineer of Jimi Hendrix, in high-resolution digital format, from the original 8-track tapes.
