"Life Will See You Now" is a typical Jens Lekman album; a mischievous humor that tackles a wide range of emotions by playing with pop songwriting conventions: sad songs sung to a cheerful tune, and cheerful songs that sound sad. With his last three studio albums, the Swedish singer/songwriter and musician has not only shown his gift for telling very personal stories with maturity, but also his ease in evoking the depth of feelings while maintaining a keen sense of self-deprecation. A winning pop combination, in short. But, as the title suggests, this album is also a step forward for Lekman, as if a threshold has been crossed. It features a more expansive, more optimistic, fresher sound, contrasting with his album "I Know What Love Isn't" (2012), which was inspired by a breakup – and earned him the title of "one of the most beautiful Swedish voices" in the world. His music now takes a new turn, and Jens Lekman skillfully – and elegantly – blends disco, calypso, samba, and bossa nova.
