As he approaches his 70th birthday, Jean-Louis Aubert continues to forge his path without faltering. The cyber-troubadour lives in his time, exploring the realm of his certainties and questions. As usual, there's a wealth of material accumulated here. The album is called PAFINI, alluding to his desire to do battle once more and, above all, opening the door to new rounds of songs that will be released in the near future. With a multi-generational crew (Renaud Letang, Eliott Sigg, Bernie Grundman), the artist deploys a great deal of ingenuity in terms of melodic subtleties and arrangements. It's a societal, autofictional, uninhibited, warm album whose music feels familiar yet never descends into cliché.
