Ghost Woman

Description

Ghost Woman’s debut album, out now!The hypnotic world of Ghost Woman is the brainchild of compulsive melodist Evan John Uschenko, who created it despite the many hazards inherent to a busy touring artist’s life: saving and replacing instruments after a fire, a van break-in, and numerous moves. Uschenko has transformed his trademark sonic explorations into a sensory patchwork for the stage. “When I record my songs, I tend to approach them without preconceived notions. I set up, tune the guitar, and have fun. It always happens that way for me. If it’s not fun, what’s the point?” Evan’s adventures as a multi-instrumentalist have seen him share stages around the world with bands like Jacco Gardner, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and The Mild High Club. All have indirectly paved the way for Ghost Woman. Ghost Woman’s new self-titled album is full of self-produced and solo-played Anatolian sounds and lo-fi hooks. In the school of authenticity that Uschenko seems to share with his rebel peers in new psychedelic rock, Kurt Vile or The Black Angels, Ghost Woman draws heavily on bands like Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, and The Firesign Theatre. It will therefore come as no surprise that the album’s sometimes krautrock groove is often counterbalanced by explorations of heartbreak and false hopes.
