Released in 2002, A Christmas Album is Bright Eyes' fifth studio album and their first Christmas-themed record. Proceeds from the album benefit the Nebraska AIDS Project, reinforcing its charitable aspect. The album features Christmas classics reinterpreted by Conor Oberst and his band, including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," used in the films *Imaginary Heroes* and *Krampus*, and "Blue Christmas," featured in *The O.C.* episode titled "The Best Chrismukkah Ever." Initially available only on CD via the Saddle Creek website, the album was first released on 180-gram white vinyl in 2009. Critically acclaimed, Pitchfork described it in 2013 as sounding "like a field recording made in frigid church basements in Omaha." Since then, A Christmas Album has seen numerous reissues, notably in 2023 by the independent label Dead Oceans, solidifying its place among the most beloved alternative Christmas albums. White vinyl edition.
