Noir Brésil

Description

Yndi Da Silva is a French-Brazilian composer, singer, and producer. Under the pseudonym Dream Koala, she gained international recognition for the ethereal pop she composed on her EPs: Odyssey (2013), Earth. Home. Destroyed (2014), and Exodus (2015), accumulating millions of streams on digital platforms. In 2017, she stepped away from the spotlight to begin writing what would become her debut album: Noir Brésil. In the following years, producer Gabriel Legeleux (Superpoze), mixer Sylvain de Barbeyrac, and the all-female batucada group Zalindê joined the project until its completion. Oscillating between Portuguese and French, bringing together synthesizers and drum skins, Yndi crafts a contemporary sound across her thirteen tracks, where dreaminess, fury, and saudade succeed one another, far from clichés. Thus, "Dia de Carnaval" is a bossa nova-tinged song that depicts a slow-motion carnival where spirits and the living intertwine, while "Amazona" is a tribute to the anger and strength necessary for women in the contemporary world. Like her debut album, "Novo Mundo" is a luminous and hopeful track. It is a promise that a new world and a new life are always possible.
