Kind of tango

Description

Wolfgang Haffner, often dubbed the "German Manu Katché," takes a few tango steps with Vincent Peirani, Ulf Wakenius, Lars Danielsson, etc. "Kind of Tango" is a kaleidoscope of changing emotions. Haffner's conception of tango touches on drama but also on melancholy and nostalgia, with room for frenzied explosions. All of this is brought together by his groove and his unique feeling that commentators have described as "absolute dream," "magical," and "deeply relaxed." Alongside his trusted collaborators Christopher Dell and Lars Danielsson, he has with him two guests who defy all clichés associated with tango: guitarist Ulf Wakenius honed his musical skills in Oscar Peterson's band, and his Swedish heritage still shines through in his playing. Vincent Peirani is one of the main innovators of the accordion, and he finds new ways to define the role of the instrument in tango. Jazz and tango find a natural balance yet are in constant evolution.
