Dedication

Description

Transitions, the third album by Boston ska stalwarts Westbound Train, finally gets its very first vinyl edition, 17 years after its original release on Tim Armstrong’s Hellcat Records label. This 16-track record reveals a band at the top of its game, brilliantly blending the sounds of early Jamaican ska, reggae, and rocksteady with American jazz, soul, and funk influences from the 60s to create an authentic sound all its own. Thirteen years passed between their albums, but the band sounds better than ever on these twelve tracks. Their signature soulful ska manages to be both current and timeless. While “Dedication” is packed with unreleased tracks as powerful as any other song by the band, longtime fans will recognize “Room To Breathe,” a reworked version of a track from their first album released in 2005.
