Purcell collection

Description

Two original ensembles, Voces8 and Les Inventions, present The Purcell Collection, a journey through the world of one of England’s greatest composers. Purcell’s body of work is certainly not as large as Bach’s, but it easily rivals it in terms of diversity. Purcell’s music draws on native traditions while constantly keeping an eye on everything foreign. Voces 8 is one of the leading young British vocal ensembles. Winner of several international awards, it performs worldwide and on the greatest stages, in a wide variety of repertoires. This ensemble was founded in 2003 by former choristers of Westminster Abbey. Les Inventions., led by Chalon-born Patrick Ayrton, is committed among other things to bringing to light works by forgotten composers, in order to restore them to the repertoire. Very active on the European scene, it also likes to rethink the format and concept of the concert.
