Description

The light, from the Latin lux, brings hope, banishes darkness, elevates the body and spirit. It has inspired composers from the dawn of time to the present day. The famous British vocal ensemble Voces8 makes it a theme for their new album, which encompasses a selection of pieces spanning over 4 centuries: from Thomas Tallis and Gregorio Allegri to Massive Attack Teardrop and Ben Folds Five The Luckiest - featured on the soundtrack of Richard Curtis's film About Time. It also includes recordings of more popular works such as Miserere by Allegri and Nimrod by Edward Elgar, as well as the Ubi Caritas theme by Paul Mealor, which was sung to Prince William on the occasion of his union with Catherine Middleton in 2011. Once again, the magical voices of Voces8 accompany the reflection and introspection of listeners, a cappella or mixed with the sound of the saxophone, cello, harp, and glasses of water, which enhance the works by adding another dimension.
