Afternoon X

Description

Recorded in late 2022 and early 2023, the album is the product of a series of marathon recording sessions led by different configurations around Cathy Lucas, Valentina Magaletti and Susumu Mukai. Initially formed by singer and multi-instrumentalist Cathy Lucas in 2015, after a series of lineup changes, Vanishing Twin is now the London collective of Lucas, drummer Valentina Magaletti (Holy Tongue, Tomaga, Moin) and bassist Susumu Mukai (Zongamin). Drawing on the varied experience of its members - Lucas’s art of Leftfield tracks, Magaletti’s singular approaches to experimental percussion, and Mukai’s long history in electronic music production - across nearly a dozen releases since 2016, the group has refined a hypnotic sound at the junction of minimalism, kosmische, post-punk and psychedelic pop. Vanishing Twin embarks on a new multifaceted journey that collectively culminates as the group’s most avant-garde and groundbreaking album to date.
