The soundtrack of the film Alexander by Oliver Stone was composed by Vangelis: This was Vangelis's first film score since the one he composed for Cavafy in 1996. The soundtrack for Alexander does not strictly speaking have a theme. However, it is worth noting that the melody present in the piece Titans reappears in Dream of Babylon. Vangelis's work has two identifiable facets. First, there are the atmospheric pieces (The drums of Gaugamela, Chant, Immortality...) with compositions intended to accompany and enhance the visuals. Then, there are the melodic compositions (Titans, Roxane's veil, Across the mountains, Eternal Alexander, Tender memories). The music is mostly played on synthesizer by Vangelis. The piece Titans evokes the epic nature of Alexander's reign. Tender memories reflects the relationship between Alexander and his mother, which is present throughout the film.
