'Couleur Brique', the third album by 'Use´' released by Born Bad, opens with a cough and piano, while a guitar spews its bronchitis in the back of the warehouse. Fans will recognize the 'ampheta-ampheta-amphetamines' vibe, as it talks about 'the chief, the chief, the chief of state.' We won't know what he had to say to Emmanuel, but there's a bit left on his pants. - - In this album, as is often the case with 'Use´', it's about singing like you hit. About pounding the snare to evoke a crush that bites and scratches and spits, about getting high, about getting wasted. From the aggressive momentum of the guy in heat at the fair, to the end of the night in a dingy bar, it's a beer-fueled hike, where small flashes of brilliance hit the mark. - - The sweaty trance achieved is, of course, due to the energy of a broken drummer, but it relies on a constant writing effort throughout the album, which can be sung tightly packed in the wastelands, to fight against the ambient gloom, where he plays his own role, wandering on his turf. It's in his biotope that you need to come see this great romantic with a quirky charm, who spits on his nipples while crawling under the barriers in front of a sweaty audience. You’ll need to buy the album if you want the lyrics, because at the concert it's hard to follow when you're busy figuring out whether it's sweat, piss, or alcohol that serves as a contact surface with your concert neighbor. At 'Use´, everything is equal: soiled bodies / welded bodies, same fight. - - Set aside from political cars, Nicolas Belvalette is now acting, in a short that has become long, 'everything is going to hell.' - - A collection of autumn tunes to feel good and fall asleep on the counter with confidence, 'Couleur Brique' lays the groundwork for future memorable concerts. The sheets are dirty but they have been carefully ironed.
