Ulrika Spacek is a London-based group that operates as a true musical collective. For over a decade, it has cultivated a spirit of collaboration through Oysterland, its self-organized nights bringing together musicians and artists from other disciplines, as well as through the Total Refreshment Centre, the studio of bassist Syd Kemp, a key hub for the intersection of jazz and sonic experimentation. Their journey, marked by collaborations with Crack Cloud, caroline, DIIV, Holy Wave, and Slowdive, reflects an identity built on shared creation.
In a hyper-individualistic world, the group's fourth album, EXPO, offers an antidote. It lies in the shared dreamlike logic of their music: the off-kilter melodies, the sharp guitars, and the airy atmospheres. It is there, in everything said and unsaid between them; there, in the writing, production, and mixing processes they share. Each of their gestures contributes to a common vision, whose strength is fully revealed within the collective framework that Ulrika Spacek embodies.
