Ulrika Spacek is a London-based band that operates as a true musical collective. For over a decade, they have fostered a spirit of collaboration through Oysterland, their self-organized evenings bringing together musicians and artists from other disciplines, and through the Total Refreshment Centre, bassist Syd Kemp's studio, a key venue for cross-pollination between jazz and sound experimentation. Their journey, punctuated by collaborations with Crack Cloud, caroline, DIIV, Holy Wave, and Slowdive, bears witness to an identity founded on shared creation.
In a hyper-individualistic world, the band's fourth album, EXPO, offers an antidote. It lies there, in the shared dreamlike logic of their music: the wobbly melodies, sharp guitars, and ethereal atmospheres. It is there, in everything said and unsaid between them; there, in the writing, production, and mixing processes they share. Each of their actions contributes to a common vision, whose strength is fully revealed within the collective framework that Ulrika Spacek embodies.
