Punk is no longer in fashion and the early bands have split up, leaving Charlie Harper to form a new band. He enlists bassist Steve Slack (who left the band before the first recordings, replaced by his brother), drummer Steve Jones, and guitarist Captain Scarlet. Navigating between the British Subs' punk ethos and more accessible styles, with many songs co-written by Slack and Scarlet, Charlie's lyrics reflect the current political paranoia of an Orwellian future, as well as hedonistic punk tales of life lived and characters met on the road. The album enabled the band to embark on decades of world tours and continue the legendary A-Z album series.
