U.K. Subs is an English punk rock band, originally from London, among the first of the first wave of British punk. Formed in 1976, the mainstay of the band was singer Charlie Harper. Initially named UK Subversives, the band changed its name for practical reasons. In May 1979, the band signed with GEM Records, a punk rock subsidiary of RCA Records. Their style combines the energy of punk with the rock and roll side of the then-burgeoning pub rock scene."
