"Fragments", the first album by Trifecta (beggs, holzman, blundell) Trifecta, a new signing to Kscope, includes 3 of the most revered musicians in the contemporary music scene - bassist and songwriter Nick Beggs, the extraordinary keyboardist Adam Holzman, and Craig Blundell - one of the most famous drummers in the world. After playing together in Steven Wilson's band, the three musicians jammed together after recordings, and it was from these sessions that the ideas for "Fragments" were born. Nick Beggs comments: "After the end of the last tour with Steven, we had a handful of tracks ready to be worked on, and as we went through our various separate projects, we agreed to work on Trifecta." The record mainly leans towards a fusion of instrumental jazz rock, with the exception of the first single, the wonderfully titled "Pavlov's Dog Killed Schrodinger's Cat." The lyrics of this song, according to Beggs, "are written from the perspective of a layman trying to understand quantum mechanics... and failing."
