Trifecta, a new Kscope signing, features 3 of the most revered musicians in contemporary music – bassist and songwriter Nick Beggs, keyboard extraordinaire Adam Holzman and Craig Blundell – one of the world’s most celebrated drummers. Having played together in Steven Wilson’s band, the three musicians would jam together after recordings and it was from these sessions that the ideas for “Fragments” were born. Nick Beggs comments: “After the last tour with Steven finished, we had a handful of tunes ready to go and, as our various separate projects came to an end, we agreed to work on Trifecta.” The record leans mainly towards instrumental jazz rock fusion with the exception of the first single, the wonderfully titled “Pavlov’s Dog Killed Schrodinger’s Cat”. The lyrics of this song, according to Beggs, “are written from the perspective of a layman trying to understand quantum mechanics… and failing.”
