Total Victory was formed ten years ago in Bolton, a suburb of Manchester. Influenced by post-punk greats such as WIRE, THE FALL, and THE SOUND, the band composed tirelessly and released their first two albums, The Pyramid Of Privilege and National Service, via Bandcamp in 2011 and 2012. It took two years, effective word-of-mouth, a tour in France chaperoned by some keen fans, memorable concerts, encounters, and above all, a host of French labels seizing on the little English phenomenon for the album to finally get a proper pressing. Because Total Victory is a truly unique band. How many bands do you know that fill 400-seat venues without any flashy promotion? Have you ever read Dan Brookes' lyrics, poetically social and deeply political? Have you ever experienced the visceral power of a live performance guaranteed 0% bullshit, a collection of songs played with all their guts out as if there were no tomorrow? Almost out of print since its physical release in 2014, National Service is finally being reissued properly, following the release of their new album, English Martyrs, also on Specific Recordings.
