Description

The fascinating second album by one of American indie rock's great hopes. "I wanted something that came very clearly from my conservative Southern roots but, at the same time, sounded futuristic and soaring." Mackenzie Scott, aka TORRES in the music world, returns with a fascinating second album. Only 23 years old, the young Nashville artist, now based in Brooklyn, already has numerous collaborations to her credit. These include tours with Okkervil River and opening acts for Sharon Van Etten and Hamilton Leithauser. The first single from Sprinter, "Strange Hellos," reflects the album: sometimes gentle, then over-the-top, with guitar riffs and Scott's captivating voice. It's a very eclectic work but one that never loses sight of its goal: constantly analyzing the depths of the self, courageously mixing genres, and standing up to the darkness. TORRES composed them by pushing the limits of her restless mind to find herself. She has certainly found many fans. "Mackenzie Scott's voice expresses a raw, urgent despair, the kind that makes you instinctively flinch and captures your attention on a primitive level." - Pitchfork
