With Horizons/West, Thrice concludes the diptych begun by Horizons/East (2021). Produced by the band and recorded by guitarist Teppei Teranishi, this album explores a more airy and cinematic sound, while retaining the rhythmic complexity and emotional intensity that have made the California quartet famous. Active since the late 1990s, Thrice has established itself as a reference in post-hardcore, blending alternative rock, post-rock, and sonic experimentation. Horizons/West draws on the textures of Beggars and Major/Minor, and highlights the voice of Dustin Kensrue, alternately fragile and powerful. The album offers a lucid introspection on memory, perception, and social conditioning, in a form that is both stripped-down and ambitious. A mature, committed, and resolutely contemporary work.
