Last year's underground revelation, Thought Leadership, whose success is well-deserved, returns with a new series of X ideas. This new collection leans more towards the post-punk sounds of Pentacles than the airy Balearic jazz of Épées. Hello to powerful guitars, 808 rhythms, and a much more pronounced use of bass as a melodic element. Initially available only on cassette, here is the very first vinyl edition. An ultra-limited pressing of 300 copies worldwide. Side A explores the emotional levels of consciousness; anxiety, joy, love, sorrow, relief, regret – all these emotions are present in the first seven tracks, often within the same title. The familiar universe of Durutti Column and Dif Juz is here, but XXII marks a turning point. This track reveals a darker and more angular palette of guitars; one thinks of Alan Rankine (The Associates) or Deb Demure (Drab Majesty) in the unexpected harmonic changes, complex arpeggios, and heavy modulations, close to the gothic. A true homage to over 45 years of dark guitar heritage.
