The first time we heard III Of Pentacles, we almost wept at the thought that something so beautiful, so overflowing with genuine hope, could exist in this brutal world.So, who is Thought Leadership? What do we know about them? They reside in Stockport and are obsessed with ethereal guitar records. That is about it.Captured on a multi-track recorder in a terraced house in Stockport, it is as DIY as it gets. You can clearly feel a love for classic Factory and early 4AD. Perhaps it is the proximity of the River Mersey where the ideas came from, and the fact that there are only three miles between where this record and the classic « LC » by Durutti Column were recorded, because both operate on a familiar sonic plain. Whether geographical or otherwise, limited by a true economy of means, namely guitar, pedals and the drum machine, the fruits born from these humble tools have been indelibly shaped by the permanent gloom that hangs over the environs of Manchester and Stockport.
