The Pipettes have shed their polka-dot dresses, brought the boys out of the shadows, and changed their lineup. Their sculpted, impetuous, and incorrigible pop musical roots have remained intact, with an added breath of fresh air. The Pipettes were born from the meeting of guitarist, DJ, and actor Bobby Barry, who was passionate about the music of Phil Spector and Motown, and singer Julia Clark-Lowes. The music is inspired by female groups like The Supremes. A pop machine is launched! Their first album, We Are The Pipettes (including the hit Pull Shapes), was released in 2006, was a great success, followed by a major European tour. The band was invited to major festivals such as Reading and Glastonbury and received rave reviews from the hippest magazines, while reaching number 41 in the UK charts in 2006. Here, the band surrounded itself with notable personalities such as Martin Rushent, producer for The Stranglers, Shirley Bassey, and The Buzzcocks, and the result is a concentration of catchy and explosive pop songs. Earth Vs Pipettes elevates the fifties polka-dot dresses and delights our ears with sweet disco pop.
