Throughout their legendary ten-year existence, the Shadow Ring have been an enigmatic force in the international music underground. Before dissolving in 2002, this chaotic rock band, formed in the southeast of England by Graham Lambkin and Darren Harris as teenagers, left behind a series of eight albums and a handful of 45s. Having started with the very first vinyl pressing of the pre-Shadow Ring cassette The Cat & Bells Club (1992), Blank Forms Editions is leading a retrospective of the band, including reissues over several years, an upcoming CD box set, and a book of over 500 pages. Recorded and self-produced in 1993, City Lights is the band's debut album. Graham Lambkin delivers repetitive and unsettling guitars that form the backbone of the record, intertwining and desynchronizing with Darren Harris's free percussion and the duo's singing poetry.
