Californian duo The Saxophones delivers delicate dream pop on a debut album of rare beauty. While The Saxophones initially referred to Alexi Erenkov's solo project, a project he started about ten years ago but which has only recently gained momentum as he dedicated more time to it, who better than his wife Alison Alderdice to add stripped-down drums and percussion to his compositions? "Songs of The Saxophones" draws inspiration from 1950s exotica and Hawaiian music, Italian songwriter Vittorio Impiglia, and a host of Third Stream and West Coast jazz albums, to offer us a truly unique result. The songs that make up the debut album were composed and written during a period when the couple lived on a boat in San Francisco Bay during a very wet winter.
