And yet, change and movement come naturally to The Saxophones: this is a band that wrote its first album on a boat, and called its second album Eternity Bay. Drawing on 50s exotica, West Coast jazz and 70s Italian lyricism, drama seeps into their deceptively simple sound, transforming dreamy surf pop into thoughtfully textured pieces. Where 'Songs of the Saxophones' (2018) interrogates interpersonal relationships, Eternity Bay's gaze is broader, as indicated by the album title. Eternity Bay sounds relatively simple, yet Alexi's jazz influences are never far away, their subtleties lending a particular gravity to the tracks. Eternity Bay cultivates a deeper connection with its listeners by creating a sonic world that nurtures and energizes, forging a new connection with what it means to be alive.
