May 15th 2020 marked the death of Phil May, the legendary frontman of The Pretty Things. At the time of his death, Phil was very excited about the imminent release of The Pretty Things’ first ever, all-acoustic album, which had just been completed. The Pretty Things had ceased live performances in 2018. Once the dust had settled, what would they do next? In the end, the chosen path was obvious. The band had played an acoustic, roots-based blues segment in all of their shows for over ten years - a nod to their musical roots which was always very well received and eagerly anticipated. "Bare As Bone, Bright As Blood" is an album of raw, direct music, straight from the Dartford Delta. Not just a joyful journey but something to put the path ahead into perspective and to see what is going on behind. It features a mix of old compositions, standards they have played for years and original recordings. Phil May and Dick Taylor have reinvented themselves as they truly are striving to put what they know out there and pass it on, to get it into the right hands and the right ears.
