Led by electronics veteran Alex Paterson, along with young prodigy Michael Rendall, the prolific and inspiring group once again delivers one of its best albums to date.
Recording the album and recent live shows have been joyful experiences largely thanks to Michael Rendall, a genius who takes hold of everything he touches. With Paterson, they share a wonderful and complicit relationship on record and on stage.
The album features many collaborations and starts beautifully with Steve Hillage's incomparable guitar and Miquette Giraudy on vintage EMS synth, spacious blue bass, reversed vocals, and smooth dream house grooves. There's also an excellent reggae skank, with Youth on bass, Paul Ferguson on drums, Andy Falconer on atmospheric music, and Eric Von Skywalker on vocals. A banger hip-hop track, or a pure dancefloor ecstasy piece, deep ambient... In short, a rich and varied album that once again demonstrates the extent of The Orb collective's creative genius.
