Formed in 2007, the little princes of "hotwave" dust off the 80s with strength and audacity. Their energy is based on post-punk wave rhythms, complemented by melodic and punchy guitars. Lewis, the singer straight from Liverpool, has an extensive pop culture background, from Tom Jones to Robert Smith! The bass lines of Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order) are never far away, and the drums love to make you dance in the style of the early 90s Manchester rock/dance combos. This is how the band finds its color between new wave, New York indie rock (The Strokes, Interpol), and vintage pop (Blur, Foals). It is on stage that The Lanskies fully showcase their energy with powerful and electrifying live performances, like their highly noted appearance at Rock en Seine in 2012. Upon returning from several months in the United States, they composed their second album "Hot Wave" in 2012, where hip-hop influences blend with their rock DNA. By working with the wizard Clive Martin (The Dodoz, Naïve New Beaters), they produced a striking album featuring 10 unstoppable tracks, whose effectiveness is matched only by the pleasure of listening to this rock sound with multiple influences. The album opens with "48 Hours," an explosive combination of their main sources of inspiration (punchy rock, nervous new wave). A beautiful rock punch! The tracks flow like dancing bombs. "Move It" is a wildly energetic track, mixing hip-hop and rock in a way that evokes the Beastie Boys. The album ventures into more soothing territory in the middle, such as the ironic "If You Join Us," or the airy ballad "Rumours." But even in these lighter realms, The Lanskies once again demonstrate a keen sense of melody. "Sunny Rose," a rock and lyrical poem, concludes this emblematic album of modern and open rock with its epic riffs.
