The Kills today announced the release of ‘God Games,’ their sixth studio album, due out October 27 via Domino. With their new hypnotic and electrifying album, the duo formed by Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince explores new sonic horizons while preserving their famously captivating and audacious signature sound. God Games is centered around the primitive dialogue between Alison Mosshart's vocal catharsis and Jamie Hince's elegantly sharp guitar blasts. Pushing the boundaries of the duo's characteristic sound, they chose to write from new perspectives. For the first time, the band primarily wrote on piano, incorporating innovative electronic and brass textures, crystal-clear production, profoundly intimate lyrics, and a collaboration with the Compton Kidz Club Choir on "LA Hex" and "My Girls My Girls." Writing sessions began in 2019, with the duo retreating to an old church to record the album with Oscar® and GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Paul McCartney), who was their very first sound engineer in 2002. The Kills has accumulated hundreds of millions of streams with their albums "Keep On Your Mean Side" (2003), "No Wow" (2005), "Midnight Boom" (2008), "Blood Pressures" (2011), and most recently, "Ash & Ice" (2016). Critically acclaimed, Pitchfork hailed the latter as "an ambitious album that encompasses everything they've done before," and NME described it as a "career highlight." After the success of Ash & Ice, the band took a leap into the past, delving into their B-sides and rarities with "Little Bastards" (2020), a compilation including an unreleased demo titled "Raise Me." Shortly thereafter, The Kills worked to re-release their album "No Wow (The Tchad Blake Mixes)" (2022), featuring remastered and reimagined versions of this crucial album in their career. In 2023, the duo turns their attention to the future. A rare force of nature whose music leaves any observer in awe, with God Games, the inimitable duo promises to further engrave their mark by pushing the boundaries of genres and musical frontiers.
