The first album by The Folk Implosion, the rock duo of John Davis and Lou Barlow (Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr.), originally released in 1994, is available for the first time on cassette! They say first times are always special, and this record was a first for The Folk Implosion. The album was recorded on a Tascam 4-track tape recorder hidden in the attic of a third-floor apartment in a house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The wooden floors and Christmas lights were as much a part of the atmosphere as an Ampeg VT 40 guitar amp and a small string organ. Tim O'Heir (producer of Sebadoh's "Bakesale" album) mixed the songs at Fort Apache studios on a Neve console in just a few hours, with the Tascam sitting on the giant table like a tugboat keeping time with an oil tanker. The duo hoped that the spirits of ancestors like The Troggs, Devo, Al Green, and The Bee Gees would be pleased with the tribute being paid to them. Thirty years later, it is they who are being honored.
